For Love AND for Money

Katrina had fun this week, that’s for sure!  She had been looking forward to Valentine’s Day for so long…  She drew a picture on her easel the week before & wouldn’t let any of us see it until then, in fact!  She had also made paper Valentine cards for both her Daddy & Mommy “in secret”.  She filled out the Valentine cards we picked for her class, too.  When the day finally arrived, she got to have a party at school, complete with making cookies & eating them!  They also made cute, little paper crowns & when they marched out of the school building, she & all of her kindergarten classmates looked so cute wearing them!  When she got home, she got even more surprises – a stuffed hippo holding a box of conversation heart candies & also some Dora & Spongebob chocolate hearts from us.  We had to sit down & read what her Valentine cards said & who they were from, of course.  She showed us her picture she had drawn on her easel, as well.  It was a big heart, surrounded by a couple of little ones & she had written, “From: Katrina, age 5” at the bottom, as well as writing “Mom”, “Dad” & “Alyssa” in random places, to show that it was made for us.  We love our sweet, little Valentine Girl!

Another thing that was cool for Kat was that she began to get allowance this week.  We came up with a list of chores that she could do, on a daily basis.  We then made a chart to keep track of things & for each chore she did, she got a sticker.  Each sticker is worth a small amount of money, so at the end of the week, we added them up & gave her the “reward amount”!  It was really fun seeing her get excited over remembering her responsibilities & earning those stickers!  The day we gave her the allowance, we went to Target to shop a little, so of course, she got to take her own money.  She spent most of it on a large box of Whoppers chocolate malted milk ball candies.  But, she managed to save a bit, also.  We’re so proud of her & can’t wait to see how she progresses with all of this!
